Chant Namo Venkateshaya on the day of divine Vaikuntha Ekadashi on Saturday, 23rd December 2023 to be in the divine connection with the lord of abode of abundance. Visit the nearest temple to pass the Vaikuntha Dwaram to receive the benevolence of Vaikunthapati.

What is Ekadashi?

According to Puranas, Lord Vishnu created a female form and called her Ekadashi in order to kill a demon Murasur. Lord Vishnu blessed Ekadashi with a boon that anyone keeping a fast on the day of Ekadashi and offering Pujas to him gets Salvation and attains Vaikuntha, the lord’s abode.

Importance of Ekadashi

Ekadashi or the eleventh day occurs twice a month in the Hindu calendar and in a year 24 days are observed as Ekadashi. This is considered a day to cleanse the body, aid repair and rejuvenation and is usually observed by partial or complete fast. This period of abstinence starts from sunrise on the day of Ekadashi to sunrise on the following day.

Vaikunta Ekadashi Fasting

Those who fast on this day are said to be rid of malefic planetary influences, experience happiness, gain peace of mind, and attain Moksha (the Salvation). Ekadashi Vrat is also known as ‘Vrat-Trayam’.

Vaikunth Ekadashi Significance

Vaikunth is a place where there is no lack or shortage; there is only abundance. It is believed that on this auspicious day, the gates of Vaikuntha, the celestial abode of Lord Vishnu, open up, offering a rare opportunity to attain Moksha or liberation from the cycle of birth and death. His abode is open for everyone, for mortals, Devatas and even the demonic on this auspicious vaikunta ekadashi day.

It is written in the Srimad Bhagavatam, that everyone in Vaikuntha is “Lord Narayana Himself”, meaning that in such a divine abode, only divinity exists and appears as Lord Narayana. The Supreme Consciousness that permeates all creation. You cannot distinguish between the Lord and the ordinary.

Vaikuntha Ekadashi occurs in the month of Margazhi, according to the Tamil Calendar. Followers of Sri Hari put aside all other work and observe Vaikuntha Ekadashi each year with reverence and fervour.
